College Possible is a growing nonprofit dedicated to coaching low-income students to-and-through college, breaking the cycle of poverty and empowering our workforce. Our rigorously-tested model earns top-of-field results that have helped 98 percent of students served earn admission to college and supported nearly 80 percent through graduation. A 2011 Harvard study found that the program more than doubles a student's chance of enrolling in a four-year college.

As an AmeriCorps member with College Possible, you will make a difference in your community and gain valuable experience for your next job or graduate school endeavor.

We currently have rewarding 6-8 month AmeriCorps opportunities available, starting in January 2018. 

As a College Transition Coach you will support high school seniors through graduation and the summer transition period to ensure fall college enrollment.  This includes assisting in presenting workshops to high school students, leading College Possible recruitment efforts for Class of 2020 at designated high schools, and serving as additional support in teaching College Possible sessions.  In addition, you will assist unenrolled College Possible students in determining future college and career goals. 

As a CollegePoint Coach you will support a group of high-achieving, lower-income high school students across the country as a part of the CollegePoint initiative. This includes utilizing technology to provide personalized information and resources to students surrounding such topics as creating a college list, writing a college essay, and accessing financial aid and scholarships. In addition, you will develop relationships with students as you coach them through the emotional and social transition of attending a top-performing college as well as assisting in planning and implementing workshops for high-achieving College Possible students at your site.

Qualifications:  A Bachelor's degree is required.  Ideal applicants will have demonstrated leadership skills, a high level of achievement in academics, employment and/or other pursuits, and a commitment to the mission of College Possible.  We welcome applicants of all academic majors to apply.

Compensation includes a living allowance, health coverage and an AmeriCorps Education Award that can be used to repay federal student loans or pay future education expenses. Student loans may be deferred. A 6 - 8 month commitment, depending on position, beginning in January of 2018 is required.
